Renting in Poland. Individual landlords and their resources.

Rental on the Polish market remains the domain of private individuals. How large is the group of landlords? How much they are professional?

January 09, 2019

The residential rental market is more active than it would seem from officially published statistical data. This is caused amongst others by considerable fragmentation, low institutionalization and the fact that many landlords fail to officially document their rental activities (contributing to the formation to the so-called grey economy). To shed some more light on this matter, residential experts from JLL (nee REAS) in cooperation with the Polish Residential Landlords’ Association “Mieszkanicznik” conducted a survey among the owners of rental apartments, for the first time in Poland.

The results were compiled on the basis of feedback provided by 450 owners of rental dwellings. Between them, they declared more than 1,700 units rented throughout Poland. None of the questions were compulsory, which meant that each respondent was free to choose which questions to answer. This report presents the most interesting findings.

We also conducted the second round of the study, in which, apart from updating the basic data about the housing stock, we focused on the types of rental agreements and the profile of tenants. The results of that survey can be found in the report 'Renting in Poland. Individual landlords - contracts and tenants'.
